Exclusive Story! Anita Among’s Fall Leaves Biara’s Bulambuli Promises in Limbo

By Bwayo Geoffrey – Bulambuli

Rt Hon Anita Among’s dramatic fall from grace has sent shockwaves through Uganda’s political landscape, and nowhere is the uncertainty felt more keenly than in Bulambuli county.

Once a towering figure in Parliament, Anita wielded influence across the judiciary, the police, and the budgetary processes that determined which districts would benefit from government largesse. Her clout was not abstract as it translated into tangible promises, such as Hon. Biara’s pledge of five cows per household and ambitious infrastructure projects for Bulambuli.

His open endorsement of Anita, symbolized by hoisting her poster at Kololo during the internal party elections, tied his fortunes to hers. Just as Namere once basked in promises that never materialized, Hon Biara now faces the prospect of pledges evaporating in the wake of Anita’s disgrace. With her credibility shattered by corruption allegations, asset seizures, and her forced withdrawal from the Speakership race, the machinery that once guaranteed budgetary favors has ground to a halt.

This moment carries echoes of biblical history. Moses led his people toward the promised land, but Joseph bore the burden of its realization. Today, Hon Biara stands in Joseph’s shoes tasked with delivering on promises without the patronage power that once underpinned them.

The ushering in of Oboth Oboth as the new parliamentary authority marks a shift in the political order, and Bulambuli must now wait to see whether its pledges survive the transition.

Yet Bulambuli cannot afford to act as though it alone deserves benefit. The district’s demands must be framed within the broader national struggle for equitable development.

In this context, the people salute Gen. Muhoozi for his efforts and continue to await the long‑delayed compensation and implementation of projects that have been promised time and again.

The fall of Anita Among is more than a personal downfall; it is a cautionary tale about the fragility of patronage politics.

For Bulambuli, it is a reminder that promises tied to individuals rather than institutions are precarious.

Whether my brother can realign himself with the new order and secure the district’s future remains the pressing question.
