So Painful!! NUP’s Muwanga Kivumbi Emotionally Shares How His Campaign Team Members Were Shot Dead Butambala County MP Muwanga Kivumbi has alleged that security forces stormed his home in the dead of night following Thursday’s general elections and shot dead several members of his campaign team. “They were killed inside my house,” Kivumbi said. According to Kivumbi, the incident happened as vote tallying was ongoing at the district tally centre. He said security personnel raided his residence, forcing many people to flee for safety. A video recorded the following morning reportedly shows bullet holes in doors and walls of the house. “I was the target,” Kivumbi claimed. “They were shot dead inside that house. They weren’t even on the road. They were looking for me.” However, police have given a different account of the events. Katonga Region Police Spokesperson Lydia Tumushabe said a group of National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters had caused chaos earlier in the day, including allegedly attacking a tally centre and a police station. Police say seven people were shot dead in the unrest.
