PATRIOTS DON’T STEAL MEDICINES, COMMISSIONER SSEKU TELLS ARUA NURSING STUDENTS

Patriots do not steal medicines or strike over salaries, commissioner Hellen Sseku, the in-charge of the national secretariat of Patriotism Corps has said.

She clarified that patriots love their nation, cherish their calling and render service above self and more so, they are ready to volunteer for the sake of advancing national interest.

Sseku who is also President Yoweri Museveni’ special assistant for youth affairs made the remarks during the pass-out of 626 students of Arua school of comprehensive nursing and midwifery over the weekend.

She said the training which included a dose of civil-military drills was aimed at ideologically aligning the next generation of nurses with national goals and values.

She encouraged the students to apply the ideological orientation lessons in their daily activities. A holistic approach to patient care.

“Be changed people who are ethically responsible. Be positive minded, stress free even after working for long hours,” emphasized Sseku.

She cautioned the students against spending their training time gossiping and backbiting patients instead of dispensing medicine

“Treat patients with gratitude and love. Be alert to national duty and say no to strikes in hospitals,” Sseku appealed.

She said strikes in hospitals lead to death of patients who have nothing to do with the salary of medical workers.

While elaborating on the importance Patriotism lessons at schools, commissioner Sseku said it is a national and constitutional undertaking to instill relevant national values and safeguards the country from retrogressive foreign influence.

“Patriotism tells us to work at least four hours every day. It calls for service above self and this should become part and parcel of our culture,” she asserted.

A total of 626 nursing students have undergone patriotism training in Arua

Sseku emphasized the adaptation and use of artificial intelligence technology to improve health service, urging the nursing students to seek knowledge in the latest computer literacy.

She castigated idleness especially among the energetic youths who are wallowing in drug abuse and narcotic addiction in the suburbs of urban centers like Arua city.

Sseku promised that the next phase of patriotism training program would target the youths in the suburbs of the urban centers and towns in order to transform their mindset and fight criminality.
