The preparations for the forthcoming West Nile in Diaspora convention have received fresh impetus as organisers announce hitting a significant milestone.
Dr Lazarous Anguvaa, the chairperson of the steering committee for the London convention confirmed during the second last global preparatory meeting on Sunday that bills related to the convention venue have been cleared ahead of time, paving way for the organisers to focus on other key areas.
“We are all set to host the convention,” he said as he thanked all those who contributed towards the success in clearing that particular logistical hurdle.
It follows the tremendous upsurge in publicity for the convention in the media in both the United Kingdom and Uganda.
Dr Anguvaa urged those who have not registered for the grand convention to do so to allow organisers to plan better for the allocation of booking space.
Aimed at unlocking investment opportunities in West Nile Anguvaa said a high calibre of delegates are showing interest including the UK business community and the diaspora community of the West Nile people.
From Uganda, leaders from West Nile and Arua City, the business community under the West Nile Chamber of Commerce, the Office of the President, the members of the West Nile Parliamentary caucus will travel for the three-day event.
Uganda’s High Commissioner to the UK and Ireland, Nimisa Madvani will preside over the opening ceremony on July 16, 2026 at the Leonardo Hotel, Milton Keynes.
Day II of the convention will focus on sector specific discussions on health, Agriculture, tourism and investment financing among others.
The hybrid convention will also involve an online gathering of interested [persons who may not be in position to travel to London engaging through a You Tube channel and Zoom link as well as live updates on Twitter (X) and other social media platforms of the West Nile Diaspora Community Association.
Over 100 delegates were reported to have registered, especially those who require lengthy VISA clearance procedures while more delegates are expected to furnish their registration this week.
Already the GOFundMe campaign for the legacy project has gone live on Eventbrite and Souvenir T-shirts of different colours and sizes are already on sale ranging from sh80,000 to sh100,000.
This is meant to raise funds for remaining activities and the cultural museum legacy project.
