Kampala Tycoon Kato Shares How Best Friend Kabanda Blocked Him Over Shs20 Million Loan, Leaving Ugandans Stunned

My name is Kato, and I am a businessman operating in Kampala. I have always believed that true friendship depends on honesty, mutual trust and standing by one another during difficult times. However, an incident involving a close friend left me with a painful lesson about giving financial assistance to people you trust without expecting betrayal.

Kabanda and I had known each other for many years and shared a friendship that I considered genuine. We regularly discussed business opportunities, opened up about personal difficulties and celebrated our achievements together. Because of the relationship we had built, I never thought that lending money to him would eventually become a source of conflict between us.

One day, Kabanda approached me and revealed that he was experiencing serious financial difficulties. He explained that he needed money urgently and assured me that he would return it within the period we agreed upon.
“He appeared sincere, and since he was my best friend, I never suspected that anything could go wrong. I had so much confidence in him that I believed he would honour his promise. I eventually gave him Shs20 million as a loan, trusting that he would pay me back according to our agreement.”

In the beginning, there was nothing unusual about our communication. Kabanda continued talking to me, and I believed he was working on arrangements to clear the debt. Unfortunately, everything changed when the repayment deadline passed, and I noticed that his attitude towards me was no longer the same.

Whenever I called to ask when he intended to return the money, he offered different excuses. Sometimes, he blamed financial problems affecting his business, while on other occasions, he assured me that payment was coming soon. Despite his repeated promises, he continued failing to fulfil his commitment.

“I kept giving him more time because I did not want to lose a friendship that had taken years to build. I explained that I also had financial responsibilities that required the money, but instead of paying me, he continued delaying the repayment.”
The situation eventually became more disturbing when Kabanda stopped picking up my calls and replying to my messages. I tried reaching him through different means, hoping that we could communicate, discuss the outstanding debt and agree on how he would repay the money.
My biggest shock came when I discovered that Kabanda had blocked my number.
“I could not believe what had happened. How could a person I treated like a brother borrow Shs20 million from me and then block me when I asked for my money? I felt betrayed, frustrated and deeply hurt because I had trusted him with such a huge amount.”

I made several efforts to establish communication with him, but he continued avoiding me. What disappointed me most was his apparent refusal to recognise the seriousness of the situation. Based on my experience, he showed no willingness to take responsibility for the debt and did not repay the money despite my repeated demands.

For a long time, I struggled to understand how our friendship had reached such a painful stage. I had helped Kabanda because I genuinely believed he was someone I could depend on, but I eventually found myself struggling to recover the money I had lent him in good faith.

“I kept thinking about the years we had spent together and the many experiences we had shared. I could not understand how someone who had been part of my life for so long could suddenly act as if we had never known each other.” While dealing with this painful experience, I came across information about. To read more, tap here
