Presidential advisor and international award-winning musician Eddy Kenzo has finally broken his silence on opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine. In a strongly worded interview with a local YouTuber, Kenzo made bold claims about Bobi Wine’s wealth and political journey.
His remarks have since stirred intense debate across Uganda, especially among supporters of the ruling NRM and the opposition NUP.
Eddy Kenzo, who has worked closely with government programs supporting the creative industry, did not mince his words. He openly stated that Bobi Wine’s success and wealth are a result of the peace and stability brought by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. According to Kenzo, the environment that allowed Bobi Wine to grow his music career was created by Museveni’s long leadership.
Kenzo explained that peace is the foundation of any business or career, including music. He argued that without security and stability, musicians would not hold concerts, sell albums, or invest in property. In his view, Bobi Wine benefited greatly from this stable environment and used it to build his wealth over many years.
During the interview, Kenzo pointed out Bobi Wine’s lifestyle as evidence of this success. He mentioned that Bobi Wine owns a large home sitting on over seven hectares of land. He also claimed that Bobi Wine owns a beach and several other properties acquired during Museveni’s time in power.
Kenzo questioned why someone who gained so much during the current government would later turn around to strongly oppose it. He said this shift raises serious questions about Bobi Wine’s intentions and honesty. To Kenzo, opposing the same system that enabled one’s success seems ungrateful and confusing.
The musician went further to suggest that Bobi Wine should choose cooperation over confrontation. He argued that as a successful artist, Bobi Wine has a responsibility to work with government to improve the music industry rather than fighting political battles.
Kenzo emphasized that young musicians across Uganda look up to Bobi Wine. Because of this influence, he believes Bobi Wine should focus on teaching financial discipline, savings, and long-term planning. He said these lessons are more important for struggling artists than political activism.
According to Kenzo, many young musicians enter the industry without guidance. They earn money briefly and lose it quickly due to poor planning. He believes experienced artists like Bobi Wine should help shape a better future for them.
Kenzo also defended his own decision to work with government. He said engagement allows artists to influence policy, access support, and protect the creative sector. In his view, shouting from outside government achieves little compared to working from within.
The comments quickly spread online, triggering strong reactions. Supporters of the ruling NRM praised Kenzo for speaking what they believe is the truth. They argue that Museveni’s government created opportunities for artists, including freedom to perform and access to international stages.
On the other hand, NUP supporters strongly rejected Kenzo’s claims. They argued that Bobi Wine worked hard for his wealth through talent and determination, not government favor. Many accused Kenzo of speaking out of loyalty to his government position rather than facts.
Some critics also reminded Kenzo that peace alone does not guarantee success. They said many Ugandans live in the same peaceful country but remain poor. To them, Bobi Wine’s story is about personal effort, not political leadership.
