The stage is finely primed for an exhilarating contest in Ayivu Division mayoral race following the nomination of two candidates, the incumbent Marlon Avutia and his challenger, the gospel singer Jimmy Candia a.k.a TIG.

Both candidates shied with relief after an exhausting nomination process made more hectic by the demand by the electoral commission that each of them collect minimum of 965 signature of supporters to back their candidature.

Both candidates described as a tasking requirement as they had to crisscross the vast Division in a short time.

Attention now turns to the campaigns that will kick off after harmonization of their programs under the coordination of the returning officer for Arua city.

Avutia, the National Resistance Movement candidate, said he welcomes his opponent to the campaign tuff and promised that he will conduct a very peaceful campaign devoid of chaos and violence.

He indeed acknowledged that more Divisions need to be curved out of Ayivu which surrounds the Arua Central Division and has two constituencies for a Member of Parliament.

“We will continue to emphasize socio-economic transformation, improve services like roads, health and the security of land of the people,” Avutia said in an interview.

The office of Division Mayor needs a people manager, Avutia said adding that he intends to continue with the work he has been doing right from LC3 chairman before elevating to Division Mayor.

On the other hand, Candia said he will anchor his campaigns on unity, love and consultative leadership.
