A woman from Jinja has opened up about how her marriage almost broke down after her husband gradually became distant, reduced communication with her and appeared to lose interest in their relationship.
The woman, who requested to be called Sarah, recalled that she and her husband were once deeply connected. They enjoyed each other’s company, discussed their future together and offered support whenever they encountered difficulties.
She said she never imagined that their relationship would deteriorate to a point where they could hardly communicate with each other.
According to Sarah, the situation developed gradually as her husband’s behaviour began to change. He started spending more time outside their home and showed less interest in talking to her. Whenever she asked him about the changes, he would respond with only a few words or avoid the conversation altogether.
Sarah explained that the growing separation between them eventually affected their family life. They began quarrelling over minor matters, and conversations that once ended with understanding increasingly turned into serious disagreements.
“I could feel that something had changed between us,” Sarah said. “We were living in the same house, but emotionally it felt like we were very far apart. I kept wondering what I had done wrong.”
Hoping to restore their relationship, Sarah tried different ways of bringing back the closeness they had previously shared. She made efforts to communicate with him, gave him room when necessary and reminded him of the wonderful moments they had experienced together, but her efforts did not seem to make a difference.
Sarah admitted that she eventually reached a point where she started doubting whether their marriage could survive.
