Kampala Woman Tells How Her Husband Abandoned Her And Their Children For Years, Leaving Them Begging And Sleeping On The Streets Before Their Lives Took A New Turn

My name is Sarah, a mother from Kampala, and there was a time when I felt like my family had been completely abandoned. My husband left me and our children without any explanation and disappeared from our lives.

At first, I kept believing he would come back after a few days, but the days gradually became months, and eventually years passed without him returning.

I was left alone with children who depended on me for food, clothing, school fees and a safe place to call home. I had no reliable source of income, and each day became another struggle to keep my family going.

I reached out to my husband several times, pleading with him to return and support us, but despite my efforts, nothing changed.
There were times when my children and I went without food simply because I had no money.

I tried every possible way to survive and provide for my children. I searched for small jobs and accepted whatever work I could find, but the little money I earned was never enough to meet all our needs. I became physically and emotionally exhausted, embarrassed by our situation and increasingly hopeless as I carried the burden of raising the children while their father remained absent.
