My name is Joseph, and I come from Kampala, Uganda. For over ten years, my family went through a difficult battle with my son’s drug addiction. What initially seemed like occasional drug use slowly developed into a serious problem that affected his health, behaviour and relationship with other family members.
We tried several approaches to help him quit, but none seemed to produce permanent results. Sometimes he would promise to stop using drugs, only to fall back into his old habits. As a father, it was heartbreaking to watch my son miss opportunities and become increasingly distant from the family. I grew deeply concerned about his future because I had run out of ideas on how to help him.
My wife and I spent many years trying to find a lasting solution. We constantly talked to him, encouraged him to change his ways and looked for different kinds of assistance, but the situation remained the same.
