Odrek Was Forced Upon Me By My Parents. I NEVER Approved Of Him As My Brother-In-Law. Edwin Is The ONLY Brother-In-Law I Have- Gen Muhoozi Declares

Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has made a strong personal statement regarding his relationship with businessman Odrek Rwabwogo, declaring that he never accepted him as his brother-in-law.

Gen Muhoozi said Rwabwogo was effectively forced upon him by his parents and insisted that he had never personally approved of him in that family position.

“Odrek was forced upon me by my parents. I NEVER approved of him as my brother-in-law,” Gen Muhoozi stated.

The CDF went on to make it clear that he recognises Edwin Karugire as his brother-in-law, describing him as the only person he personally acknowledges in that role.

“I approved of Edwin Karugire. Edwin is the ONLY brother-in-law I have. He is the ONLY one I know,” he declared.

Gen Muhoozi’s remarks have added a deeply personal dimension to the ongoing public disagreement involving Rwabwogo, who is married to Patience Museveni Rwabwogo, a daughter of President Yoweri Museveni.

The comments come at a time when the relationship between Gen Muhoozi and Rwabwogo has attracted considerable public attention because of their increasingly sharp exchanges.

Gen Muhoozi has previously criticised Rwabwogo in connection with the Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development, commonly known as PACEID.

The CDF recently announced that PACEID had been dissolved and that its functions, responsibilities and budget would be taken over by Operation Wealth Creation.

Rwabwogo, however, has challenged the decision, maintaining that PACEID was established by President Museveni and that only the President has the authority to terminate its mandate.

The disagreement has also involved allegations concerning the organisation’s operations and public finances, with Gen Muhoozi accusing PACEID of wrongdoing.

PACEID has denied the allegations, while Rwabwogo has continued to defend the organisation and its mandate.

Gen Muhoozi’s latest comments, however, focus less on the institutional dispute and more on his personal relationship with members of his extended family.

His statement suggests that disagreements over family relationships have existed for some time, although he did not provide detailed information about the circumstances in which he says his parents forced him to accept Rwabwogo.

He also used the opportunity to make a broader appeal to parents, saying they should pay attention to the opinions and wishes of their sons when making important family decisions.

“Parents must learn to listen to the voices of their sons,” Gen Muhoozi said.

The statement has generated discussion because of the unusual public nature of the disagreement and the fact that it involves members of President Museveni’s family.

Edwin Karugire, whom Gen Muhoozi identifies as his only brother-in-law, is married to Natasha Museveni Karugire, another daughter of President Museveni.

Rwabwogo is married to Patience Museveni Rwabwogo, making the dispute particularly notable given that both men are connected to the first family through marriage.

The latest declaration is likely to attract further attention as the wider disagreement surrounding PACEID continues to unfold.

It also demonstrates how political and institutional disagreements can become intertwined with personal and family relationships when prominent public figures are involved.

For Gen Muhoozi, however, the position appears clear: he says he never personally approved Rwabwogo as his brother-in-law and recognises Edwin Karugire as the only person he accepts in that role.

The remarks have added another chapter to the increasingly public confrontation and left many observers waiting to see whether Rwabwogo will respond to the CDF’s latest declaration.

As the dispute continues, attention remains focused on both the future of PACEID and the increasingly personal exchanges between the two men.
