My name is Richard, and I am an entrepreneur from Mbarara in Western Uganda. For many years, I dedicated myself to building my business, saving money and securing a brighter future for my family. I strongly believed that honesty and trust were the foundation of successful business relationships, especially when dealing with people I had known for years.
However, I eventually learned a painful lesson when some of the people I trusted most became involved in financial arrangements that left my business struggling to survive.
Everything began when two of my close friends approached me separately with business ideas. They knew I was doing reasonably well financially, and they persuaded me that partnering with them would help us grow our businesses and increase our earnings.
Because we had shared a friendship for years, I never suspected that they could take advantage of me. I believed they genuinely wanted to see me succeed, so I agreed to invest my money in the business opportunities we had discussed.
In the beginning, everything looked encouraging. They explained the profits we could earn with great confidence, and I was convinced that the investments would create more opportunities for my business to grow.

Eventually, I discovered that millions of shillings I had entrusted to them were missing from the financial records and could not be properly accounted for. It was a painful realisation because the money represented years of hard work, careful planning and personal sacrifice.
I felt deeply disappointed and embarrassed to discover that people I had considered close friends had put my business in such a difficult situation. I began wondering whether I had ignored important warning signs simply because I believed I could trust them.
Soon, my business started facing serious financial difficulties. I had suppliers demanding payment, employees who depended on me for their salaries and other responsibilities that required urgent attention. I spent many sleepless nights wondering how I would recover the money and protect everything I had worked so hard to build.
During this challenging period, I decided to examine my business transactions more closely. I reviewed the records available to me, revisited the agreements we had made and tried to establish exactly what had happened to the money.
The more I investigated, the more determined I became to find out where the funds had gone. I realised that I could not continue depending on promises without demanding clear explanations, proper records and accountability. One day, while sharing my financial troubles with someone I knew, I.To read more, tap here
