My name is Johnson, and I come from Jinja, Uganda. There was a time when my life looked completely different from what it is today. I had no stable home, no reliable income and no clear idea of what my future would look like.
I spent many nights sleeping on the streets. During the day, I moved around asking people for money and food so that I could survive. Sometimes I would go for hours without getting anything, and there were nights when I had no choice but to sleep wherever I could find a safe place.
Life on the streets taught me how difficult poverty can be. I watched other people going to work, running businesses and driving their cars while I struggled to find enough money for my next meal.
There were moments when I felt forgotten by society. Some people ignored me, while others looked at me with pity. I often wondered whether I would ever have a home, a business or even a stable source of income.
