A woman from Masaka has opened up about her painful journey from being ridiculed for her looks in her village to finding love and enjoying a happy marriage with a wealthy man she describes as handsome and caring.
The woman, identified as Brenda, revealed that growing up was challenging because several people in her village regularly passed hurtful remarks about her appearance. Rather than accepting her for who she was, they gave her insulting nicknames and constantly compared her with other girls.
Brenda explained that the repeated insults gradually damaged her confidence as she grew older. During celebrations and other community gatherings, she sometimes felt uneasy because she was afraid that people would once again make her the target of their jokes.
Some villagers openly suggested that she would struggle to find a husband. Others treated her as though her physical appearance determined her worth and what she could achieve in life. Their words left her wondering whether she would ever meet someone who would genuinely love and appreciate her.
