A woman from Jinja has spoken about the painful period her marriage went through after her husband gradually became distant, communicated less with her and appeared to lose interest in their relationship.
The woman, who asked to be identified as Sarah, said she and her husband were once very close.
They regularly spent time together, talked about their future plans and supported one another whenever they faced challenges. She said she never thought their marriage would reach a point where having a simple conversation would become difficult.
According to Sarah, the situation developed gradually. Her husband started spending more time away from home and became increasingly quiet and uninterested in conversations. Whenever she asked him what was happening, he would usually give brief responses or avoid talking about the matter altogether.
Sarah said the growing distance between them eventually affected the atmosphere in their home. They began arguing over minor matters, while discussions that previously ended peacefully would often escalate into serious disagreements.
“I could tell that something between us had changed,” Sarah said. “We were still living in the same house, but emotionally, it felt as though we were miles apart. I kept asking myself what I could have done wrong.”
She said she made several attempts to restore the closeness they once shared. She tried speaking to him, giving him room and reminding him of the happy moments they had experienced together, but none of these efforts appeared to improve the situation.
At one point, Sarah said she started giving up hope that their marriage would survive. She feared that the relationship they had worked hard to build was gradually breaking down and heading towards an end.
