A purported birth document said to belong to Prince Jacksonville Jacob Oyo, the child described by members and supporters of the late Tooro King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV as his biological son and heir, has surfaced online as Prince Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I takes over the Tooro throne.
Images of the heavily redacted document reportedly circulated on social media on September 28 and 29, 2026, with users identifying it as the birth certificate of the child popularly referred to as “Baby King,” “Baby Oyo” or “Jacksonville Jacob.” The document appears to contain newborn footprints, while names, dates and other identifying information have been blacked out.
The emergence of the document has added a fresh twist to the succession dispute that followed the death of King Oyo on August 27 in the United States.
Some social media users have questioned its authenticity because of the extensive redactions, while others have suggested that it could become relevant in legal efforts challenging Nyabongo I’s installation.
However, there is no public confirmation from NIRA, a US vital-records authority, the hospital allegedly associated with the document or the Tooro Kingdom that the document is genuine or that it belongs to a biological son of the late king.
