For several years, I believed I had found the woman with whom I could build a lasting future. I supported her ambitions, stood by her through challenging times and did everything within my means to help her succeed.

When I first met my girlfriend, she was pursuing her studies at Makerere University. She was focused, hardworking and ambitious, and I admired her determination to finish her education and work towards a better future.
As our relationship became stronger, I chose to support her education. I contributed towards her tuition because I genuinely wanted to see her complete her studies, graduate and achieve the goals she had set for herself.
I also stood by her in other areas, including helping her look for opportunities that could enable her to begin her professional journey after completing university.
Eventually, she finished her studies and later secured a job opportunity. I was incredibly happy for her because I felt proud knowing that someone I loved had finally reached an important stage in her life.
But only one week after she secured the job, I noticed that something had suddenly changed between us.
She started becoming distant, and the communication we once had became less frequent. The woman who had previously been very close to me began acting differently and seemed increasingly withdrawn.
Initially, I convinced myself that she was simply trying to adjust to her new job, new environment and responsibilities. I therefore decided to remain patient and give her the space I thought she needed.
Eventually, however, she told me that she had decided to end our relationship.
I was completely shocked and deeply hurt. I struggled to understand how someone I had supported through some of her most difficult moments could suddenly make the decision to leave me.
For days, I kept reflecting on everything that had happened between us. I felt deeply disappointed because I had always believed that the two of us were working towards building a future together.
I tried to speak to her and reminded her of the journey we had gone through together, but she appeared determined to move forward with her decision.
